Carbon Dreams: Reflections on Hypercars and the Materials That Drive Them
-Kofi Annan-Brown
I am Kofi Annan-Brown, a senior at Phillips Exeter Academy (class of 2026). I have always been captivated by cars–not just for their speed, but the artistry and engineering behind them. I used to marvel at how the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento could weigh under 1000kg despite being powered by a massive 5.2 L V10 engine, or how the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ's firing order gives it a sharper, more aggressive pitch compared to the more refined exhaust note on the SV, even though they share the same manufacturer and same powertrain platform.
Those tiny engineering distinctions were not just for performance, but to convey the artistry and passion behind the brand. Airflow sculpted by design, not just performance, reveals to me that a car is not just a machine, but a moving art.
After a once in a lifetime experience in Modena, Italy this past summer participating in the Advanced Engineering Program at the Motor Valley University of Emilia Romagna, this blog space is a place where I explore what drives me and some of my takeaways from that experience.
